When we last left off in New Year New Garden the garden looked like this
Since then we have been hampered by rain, sleet and snow – but some progress has been made.
We finished building the beds despite the cold weather – then the sun came out (but still cold)
Then the snow started falling
and kept falling
at least the snow covered up the garbage (no filter just weird snow reflections)
Then the sun came out…
and it snowed some more – I think it even snowed while the sun was out .
It snowed so much it added decorative capping to the beds so we don’t have to
A week before this weather anomaly we had ordered 2000L (not a typo) of compost; some is to fill the beds and some is to lay on the soil as it is very heavy clay and in some parts so dense I doubt anything beneficial would grow.
It arrived today – it is still snowing – they offer curbside delivery with a pallet and will try to get to your front door if they can. There was no chance of any human pulling a one tonne pallet through the snow so it was left on the road. I then hauled the bags (50x 40L) in to the front and then we transferred them through to the back.
So I guess my 2018 seedlings (also not a typo) will have to wait
and it’s still snowing – so luckily planting time is mid-March (perhaps it will have stopped by then) I’ll post a proper update then
P.S I know that there will be many people in snowy countries who would laugh at this amount of snow. I think in some parts of Canada they call this Spring (but it is still weird for inner London)
