I often have topics I want to post about but for whatever reason don’t have time to take the photos and arrange it properly. I often have topics I would like to write about but dismiss them because they are not ones that enable a lot of photos.
In the olden days, people blogged without photos or maybe just one title photo. Now, if you don’t have 100 photos accompanying your post then people don’t want read it.
So I propose Texty Tuesday (we have Wordless Wednesday so why not?) a short post about something you are doing, you saw, or an update perhaps have hesitated writing because you didn’t have ‘all the photos’. Some times failures come under this category as you may not want to show the ‘bad’ photos. However, others might like to read about what you did as they will learn from your post.
Today I harvested the sweet potatoes I put in 12 plants but we also planted kale which ended up shadowing some of the plants so they never really took off. Some were ‘attacked’ by foxes (they dig up the ground and put the plants out for fun) So in the end I dug up 1.6 kilos of potatoes from around four plants. I think that is a big enough haul that we will do it again next year. It definitely makes a difference in the full sun as the ones I had in my back garden were watered twice as much but only grew one potato each. The plants that were in the middle did better and I did not have a large fork so I may have missed some small ones by not digging around enough.
I have kept the plants and placed them in water so they will grow roots; I am hoping to over winter them and plant out stronger plants next year. I don’t know if this will be worth it verses growing from a new potato. I figure these ones are acclimatised to our plot rather than buying a new potato from the supermarket from who knows where.
The original plants came from an experiment I ran on growing them from a store bought sweet potato (people say that vegetables are sprayed with chemicals to inhibit sprouting but anyone who looks in my crisper or potato cupboard would know better)
That is my Texty Tuesday – if you have any thing you would like to share you could add it to the comments below and others can read them all together.
